you have Komplete, it would be ridiculous not to take advantage of its integration with the KK.KK is amazing, and having the function of each encoder properly labelled and updated in real time as you change banks on the (excellent) keyboard, is insanely useful. if you don't like the default mapping you can edit it to however you'd like. there are multiple "pages/banks" of these eight grouped controls. this is the "old way" that everyone used for years and were never really happy with. sliders will need to "update" by moving them when loading a new patch. no names (other than the defaults which only apply to a certain number of synths, useless for most others and fx, etc). looks like they have double functions, so "two pages" of each. The KeyLab offers eight relatively "generic" knobs and eight "generic" sliders. you have Komplete, it would be ridiculous not to take advantage of its integration with the KK. at all, now that i'm looking at the Arturia. But save yourself money and get the Arturia. Arturia have the right concept albeit the keys aren't quite as nice. NI really don't get it with their 8-knob thing. Re-mapping plug-ins these days is so easy anyway, just takes a few seconds.

And having 8 knobs and 8 sliders is far more easy to work with. Recently got a KeyLab 61 Essential and love it! It's only slightly longer than the NI model but has 61 keys. It's still a pain to tweak synths with only 8 knobs and I hate having to open everything up in the NI KKS shell plug-in. I can tell you I NEVER use the NKS thing. I've had the original KKS49 since it came out and have Komplete.

I basically want to be able to control as much of the software as possible without having to use the mouse to move onscreen "knobs" and "faders." And it needs to be 88 weighted keys. Anyone have any thoughts on which of these would be best for my application? Or if there's something better of course. It's also a little less expensive than the Komplete Kontrol.īoth have the Fatar keyboard, which I do like. This one has a ton of knobs and sliders, which seems like a good thing for sure.

Would the Komplete Kontrol be able to control that too? Looks like there are a series of encoders but not a huge amount of them.Ģ. I also use Omnisphere and a few other software synths though. Seems like a great choice, seeing as how I've got Komplete. In looking for a new 88 key controller, two models have caught my eye:ġ. So much better than the Kurzweil's piano, and the Kurzweil's been acting a bit weird for awhile there. I recently purchased NI's Komplete, and have been blown away by some of the sampled pianos on there. I'm going to be replacing my old Kurzeweil S88 key controller.
